Educational Foundation for Independence’s (EFFI) mission is to provide scholarships for neurodivergent learners, from underrepresented communities, to attend post-secondary educational support programs. Our scholarship philosophy is to strengthen and sustain individuals to expand upon their core abilities and to assist them in reaching their fullest potential. As such, we develop thoughtful, long-term collaborations with individuals and educational institutions, and invest sufficient funds to accomplish the purpose at hand and achieve meaningful and lasting results.

Guiding Principles

The 5 principles below reflect EFFI’s beliefs about the role of patronage and the impact it has on neurodivergent students and their families. The principles guide who we are, what we do, how we do it, and most importantly why we do it.

While many of our principles are fundamental to the way we operate, we will remain open to amending them as we grow and learn more about our work and changing young lives.

One

This is a foundation driven by the interests and passions for educating neurodivergent students from underrepresented communities.

Two

We advocate for our recipients —vigorously but responsibly—in our educational focus.

Three

Our focus is clear—and limited—and prioritizes the need for providing educational opportunity for underrepresented neurodivergent learners.

Four

We treat our grantees and donors as trusted partners, and we treat the recipients of our work with respect and compassion.

Five

Through transparent business practices we commit to growth through integrity, reliability, and flexibility.
